Infographic Art

Infographics are graphic visual representations of information intended to present
complex information quickly and clearly.

Picture

5 Key Components:

·       Color (Consider color impact)

·       Proportion (Is big more important than small?)

·       Simplicity (Easily recognizable, reduce and refine)

·       Bold (Visually eye catching)

·       Sexy (Entice with provocative imagery)

The objective is to condense large amounts of information into a form where it will be more easily absorbed by the reader.

Think...! What is my perspective? Anti or Pro? What visuals come to mind? Metaphors?
There are 3 basic provisions of communication that need to be considered when designing an infographic –

 ·         Appeal is the idea that the communication needs to engage its audience.

 ·         Comprehension implies that the viewer should be able to easily understand the information.

 ·         Retention means that the viewer should remember the data.

10 Steps to Follow:

  1. Identify topics to illustrate
  2. Sketch the design layout
  3. Collect reference images
  4. Refine design
  5. Hand draw/paint each category
  6. Refine drawing/paintings to make for easy photoshopping
  7. Scan images
  8. Edit scanned images
  9. Photoshop desired layout
  10. Save to student share as JPEG or PNG
